The Weird Clock
The weird clock was hanging from the overhang of a building. It appeared to me as an abnormally large pocket watch strapped with two golden chains. Its pendulous motion was hypnotizing me in a way in which I am unable to control myself. As I watched closer, I noticed that the longest hand had strike fifteen. It was time to get back to work.
After wasting a few minutes of my time, wandering in the garden across from my workplace, I decided to get back to the cubicle before it starts overloading with assignments. My eyes gave over and I started to walk across the street. As I was strolling towards the stairway, I noticed something odd. Was that clock there before? No, It cannot be. What I had seen was the same old clock I had seen earlier. The same golden chains hanging down from the ceiling. Its circular glass surface, attracting me into its mysterious mechanical organs. I left the scene in an instant hoping this would just be a nightmare or a quirky dream. I entered the office, hoping to calm myself down by trying to do all the work. When I got inside, my co-workers looked at me strangely, they seemed disgusted and annoyed. I sat down with confusion and asked myself, “Am I drunk?”. My thoughts didn’t lead me anywhere, but instead, someone whispered behind me. “Please, save us.”, came from behind. I turned back in an instant to see nothing. Just nothing. Now, I feel like I’m being delusional. My mind is going haywire and I might need a medical checkup. I tried my best to ignore that and started to clear the mess of paperwork on my desk. When I glanced at the papers, the words started to move. “Wait, what?”, I thought. The letters and words detaching and moving around forming gibberish and piles of unintelligible alphabets. I snapped myself from this and started to observe what’s around me. The room went silent, and nobody was there. The lights flickered. My eyes came to face the inevitable horror in front of me. The gigantic clock. It was there. Hovering above the floor. Ticking always. I thought it was a nightmare, but when I approached it, a sound emerged from inside. “SAVE US! RELEASE US!”, yelled inside. When I stood upfront the glass plate of the clock. I saw cogs, gears and wires moving and slithering as if it was living organs. I looked carefully and I saw the face of a corpse as if it was Death himself, staring at me from the inside.
