(TLH) Chapter 1
Mira woke up, after taking the nap
she needed. She found herself floating on the same old chunk of metal, ripped
apart from the destruction. The metal chunk parked right at the front of an old
wooden dock. It stopped, calmly next to some barrels. She climbed aboard the
new-found land and made sure to say goodbye to the metal chunk which brought
her here. She started crawling on the wooden planks, forgetting how walking
works. Due to the shakiness of the ship, she caught motion sickness and memory
loss of, walking. With little time she became bipedal. The next few steps lead
her towards a large hill. The hill was covered with green grass, rarely seen by
a common sailor. The smell, the appearance of true earth was all new to Mira.
She stepped onto the first batch of dirt to discover its natural softness. The
rocks, the roughness of a modern log she misses. She continued walking up the
hill. In a sudden, a massive large lighthouse lifted up from her point of view.
The lighthouse. It striped with red and white colors, like the flowers placed
among the lands between her and the building. The lighthouse. Topped with an
unlit beacon, waiting for a new visitor to arrive, it decayed. The small
windows broke, tangled with vines. The paint all rotten and old.
After
observing her new home, or going to be, her eyes came down to entrance. The
door creaked opened a little. The wooden door cracked. Some parts covered with
barnacle, some parts grown with plants, all left by somebody for somebody to
enter for the next of time. The door opened by the little wisp of wind blown
from the inside revealing something glowing inside. The shining rays went
through the small cracks of the door and the circular window attached. Before
Mira went straight to the door, she stopped at the sign in front, hammered into
the face of the ground. It said:
“The red
becomes courage as the white holds peace, the light gives memory and the door
awaits.”
The sign in front was
read by Mira carefully as she worked out the peculiar words shown. This should
be important. The sign turned its arrow head towards the door magically as Mira
finished fiddling with her thoughts. She was not excited nor ready for what was
to come to her adventure. The door opened even more, revealing more light to
shine through brightly on to the ground. Mira walked slowly to the door to
clear out her curiosity. What she found was pure light, liquid looking. Not
what she was expecting to be a beginning of a ruined staircase leading to what
looks like to be in a regular old lighthouse in the middle of the seas. She
turned away to look around one last time. Nothing is out of place except this
strange lighthouse and its confusing properties. The trees all swayed by the
winds, the old stranded dock, left aside with the metal chunk just floating there.
The grass, the rocks, the dark skies. She gathered her courage for the sake of
living. She touched the fluid light. Nothing. In a swift, something poked out
and pulled her inside.
